6 Tips to know How to Save and Reduce Fuel Consumption

Given the rise in fuel, it is important to learn these tricks to avoid wasting it

Fuel is a fundamental product for a city to move, but in many countries, in recent days, its price has increased to levels that not everyone can afford. Therefore, we bring you 6 tips so you can know how to save fuel and reduce its consumption.

The pressure in the tires must be as indicated.
If there is not enough air in the tires, the resistance to the asphalt is greater, which causes gasoline consumption to also increase. “It increases from 5% to 10% if the tires do not have the indicated pressure,” explains David Bennett, manager of the AAA repair systems unit for the ‘Diario Marca’. Of course, inflating them more than necessary would make the tires wear out much faster.

 Avoid stopping completely
At a traffic light, for example, slow down as you approach the intersection to avoid stopping. Every time your vehicle stops, it uses more gas when you pick up the pace, so knowing your distance will save you a few extra gallons.

Car maintenance must be up to date
Manufacturers’ recommendations on changing oil, other fluids, even filters, are important and doing it when it’s due will help extend the life of your car and save fuel. Replacing the spark plugs also contributes to better performance on this issue.

Do not keep the engine running
This common mistake causes more gas to be used than when you turn it off and on again. If the plan is to stop for more than a minute, it is advisable to turn off the engine. In fact, many vehicles do this automatically, for example at traffic lights.

 Drive at the right speed
The vast majority of vehicles consume less gasoline if it goes at 80 kilometers per hour. If the car starts to go faster, the fuel consumption will also increase, so you will lose more of it for wanting to gain a few minutes on the highway.

Plan your route in advance
Perhaps the most important tip. Taking into account the time, the distance and the alternate routes, you must combine between several options so that the journey does not lengthen, generate more unnecessary stops and, consequently, consume more gasoline than it should. Save time and money just by being careful.
