Amazon has announced plans to end support for its Chime video conferencing software next year. The company stopped accepting new customers on February 19, but existing users can continue accessing its features—including Business Calling, meeting scheduling, and user management—until February 20, 2026.

Additionally, Amazon will no longer use Chime for internal meetings. According to a report from Business Insider, the company will transition to Zoom for video conferencing across its offices.

“When we retire a service or feature, it’s usually because we’ve introduced a better alternative or our partners provide a solution that better meets the needs of both our customers and employees,” Amazon stated. “In the case of Chime, external adoption was limited, and our partners offer strong collaboration tools, so we’re choosing to focus on those instead.”

Chime originally launched in 2017, but struggled to gain widespread adoption outside of Amazon. Early reviews described it as a promising but unfinished product that lacked the competitive edge needed to challenge industry leaders. With this move, Amazon is officially stepping away from the video conferencing space, opting instead to rely on third-party solutions.
