AMD’s next-generation Ryzen 9000X3D desktop processors are expected to launch in just three weeks, as teased by the company. On Monday, AMD revealed that these new “X3D” processors will be available starting November 7, with more detailed information to be released soon. The company has hinted that the X3D technology will be “reimagined,” suggesting key advancements over previous models.

While AMD has yet to provide specifics on pricing, specifications, or the number of variants, it’s expected that the 9000X3D chips will incorporate the company’s 3D chip-stacking technology. This allows for additional L3 cache on the silicon, resulting in improved gaming performance, a feature that made the X3D lineup popular among PC gamers. However, reviews of last year’s Ryzen 7000X3D processors have shown mixed performance results.

The arrival of the 9000X3D series is eagerly anticipated, especially after some PC builders expressed disappointment with the regular Ryzen 9000X processors, which launched in August. Although these chips are more power-efficient, they have been found to perform similarly, or even worse, than the previous 7000X series in certain tasks, offering little incentive for users to upgrade.

A leaked MSI presentation suggests that AMD will release two 9000X3D variants: one with 8 cores and another with 16. These chips are rumored to offer only a modest performance increase of 11% to 13% compared to the 7000X3D series.

To boost interest in its current offerings, AMD is introducing holiday discounts on the Ryzen 9000X series. Buyers can expect up to $30 off the 9600X, 9700X, and 9900X chips, with the 9950X receiving up to a $50 discount.
