AMD’s Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D CPUs to be launched on March 12

AMD’s latest high-performance desktop processors, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D, are set to hit the market on Wednesday, March 12.
AMD officially announced pricing for the two chips, with the 9900X3D set at $599 and the 9950X3D at $699. While not exactly budget-friendly, these prices remain consistent with AMD’s previous Ryzen 7900X3D and 7950X3D models from two years ago.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which launched in November, has been notoriously difficult to find at its original $479 price point, often selling out or being resold for as much as $589. With the new chips promising even better gaming performance, demand is expected to be high, potentially leading to price hikes from retailers or resellers.
Initially introduced at CES 2025, the new X3D series stands out due to its 3D V-Cache chip-stacking technology, which significantly increases L3 cache capacity. This enhancement helps boost frame rates, with AMD touting the 9950X3D as the “best gaming processor” on the market.
With AMD gaining ground against Intel—bolstered by record desktop CPU sales in multiple regions last month—these new processors could further solidify its position. A full review is on the way, so stay tuned for more insights into their real-world performance.
