The updated design, first spotted in earlier leaks, introduces a sleek, pill-shaped control panel. Unlike the Canary version, users can now try it without dealing with the instability that often comes with experimental builds. While the functionality remains largely the same, the revamped interface delivers a noticeably smoother and more modern experience.
The screen recorder is still accessible via Quick Settings, but everything after tapping the tile has been reworked for simplicity. By default, it captures the entire screen, though users can switch to recording a specific app using a dropdown option. Initially, selecting a single app required opening it beforehand, but subsequent attempts allow you to choose apps directly from a card-style interface - even from the home screen. Once you hit record, the selected app opens automatically before the countdown begins.
As with the Canary version, the recording controls remain accessible through a Live Update indicator on the screen. After finishing a recording, users are presented with a preview page offering quick actions like editing, sharing, deleting, or starting a new capture. However, one feature still missing is the drawing tool that appeared in earlier leaks, which has yet to make an appearance in this build.
With Beta 3, Android 17 has now entered its platform stability phase, making it an appealing option for those interested in early access. While minor bugs may still exist, the update signals that the official launch is getting closer.
