Android 4.2 and iOS 12.1 or higher are now mandatory to use WhatsApp

WhatsApp messaging application, recently announced that from 2023 it will no longer support mobile devices with an “old” operating system.

Offering an application on devices whose operating system is no longer supported or updated poses security risks, and WhatsApp developers are aware of this situation. Therefore, starting next year, you will need a smartphone or tablet with at least Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) or iOS 12.1. It is worth noting that Android 4.2 was released in 2012, while iOS 12 in 2018, just four years ago.

These requirements will prevent the WhatsApp application from being used on some mobile devices still in use, as many users are unaware of the risks they run when using a device that is no longer compatible. If it works and does what it should, the user usually doesn’t replace it.

From 2023, smartphone owners who are no longer eligible will have to buy a newer smartphone, otherwise they will be forced to abandon, To check the version of your operating system, just access the device’s settings and look for the corresponding item.
