Apple Set to Launch New iPhone SE Soon

Apple is reportedly gearing up to release an updated version of its budget-friendly iPhone SE as early as next week. Instead of hosting a large-scale event, the company is expected to introduce the device through its website, according to Bloomberg. This launch is part of Apple’s broader strategy to refresh the SE lineup and attract customers who may not yet own an iPhone.

This update would represent a major evolution for Apple’s entry-level smartphone, first introduced in 2016. The new model—reportedly codenamed V59—is expected to be the first iPhone to feature Apple’s in-house cellular modem, replacing Qualcomm’s components. Additionally, it may include Face ID for the first time, eliminating the physical home button. The device is also rumored to incorporate the A18 chip, the same processor found in the iPhone 16, allowing it to better support Apple’s latest AI-powered features.

Bloomberg also highlighted that inventory levels of the current iPhone SE are decreasing in retail stores, suggesting that a new version could be on the way. While some variants remain available online, others have delayed shipping dates until March.

Apple has not officially commented on the speculation.

The timing of this release is significant, as Apple recently reported a 1% decline in iPhone sales during the holiday quarter, falling short of market expectations. A more capable yet affordable iPhone SE could help Apple strengthen its position in key markets like China and India, where budget-friendly smartphones with high-end features are in high demand.

Currently, the iPhone SE starts at $429, considerably lower than the $799 entry price of the iPhone 16.
