Did You Know : Why Sun Looks Red during Sunrise and Sunset

Photography enthusiasts love to click pictures of Sunrise and Sunset because the sun turns red at this time, which looks very beautiful. But do you know what is the science behind this red color of the Sun?

British Scientist Discovered
The secret of this scientific process is hidden in Rayleigh Scattering, in the 19th century British scientist Lord Rayleigh was the first person to tell Light Scattering. This process occurs when sunlight enters the Earth’s atmosphere and then collides with dust and soil particles and starts spreading, but it does not happen during sunrise and sunset.

The Secret Behind the Red Color of the Sun

There are 7 seven colors in the rays of the sun, from which a rainbow or a VIBGYOR is formed. Its colors are purple, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. In this, the wavelength of red color is the highest. This means that the red color can be seen from the most distance. When the sun rises or sets, it is farthest from our eyes, so its red color is clearly visible to us, while the other 6 colors are not visible due to distance.

Rainbow Red Color
When it rains while the sun is shining, the raindrops create a natural prism in the sky, due to which the process of Light Scattering takes place and a rainbow is formed. In this too, out of the seven colors, red color is visible at the top because of the longer wavelength.
