Facebook and Instagram to reactivate Donald Trump’s account

Meta has announced that it will reactivate Donald Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, thus ending his two-year suspension following the former American president’s exclusion due to the Capitol robbery.

Donald Trump had been excluded from the social network on January 7, 2021, when he was still president, for encouraging his supporters during the attack on Congress in Washington. This unprecedented decision was imitated at the time by most major social networks, including Twitter and Snapchat.
In June 2021, Facebook had decided that the deletion would last for two years, and that Donald Trump could only return when the risks to public safety had disappeared.
