The game had already achieved five million sales within just five days of release - leading to shortages of physical editions - and publisher Capcom has now confirmed that another million units have been sold shortly after that milestone.
Looking ahead, Capcom says it plans to roll out continued support, including new content and updates to keep players engaged. Recently announced additions include a major story expansion, a mini-game arriving in May, and a photo mode feature.
The company is also preparing celebrations for the franchise’s 30th anniversary on March 22, 2026. These plans include a collaboration with Universal Studios Japan, as well as orchestral concerts scheduled across Japan, the United States, and Europe.
Meanwhile, renowned game director Hideki Kamiya - known for titles like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta - has suggested adding a “non-scary mode” to the game. Kamiya, who also directed Resident Evil 2, expressed interest in a version focused more on puzzles and combat rather than horror elements.
For players finding the game’s intense moments challenging, detailed guides are available to help navigate its environments, from the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center to Raccoon City, ensuring no important items or collectibles are missed.
