Galaxy S23 Ultra receives underwhelming DxOMark score

The folks at DxOMark, as usual, have submitted the photographic sector of the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra to their rigorous set of tests to measure its performance in terms of photo, video and zoom quality from the end user’s point of view.

For those who don’t know, the Galaxy S23 Ultra offers a total of five photo sensors: on the back we have a quad camera system with a 200MP wide-angle main sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 10MP telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom, while on the front we have a 12MP sensor.

In the ranking prepared by DxOMark with the best smartphones in the photographic area, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra was only in the tenth position both in the global ranking and in the ultra-premium devices, with a score of 140 points, therefore below equipment such as the Huawei Mate 50 Pro , Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and even the Honor Magic 4 Ultimate.

DxOMark speaks of very good detail, fairly wide dynamic range in all conditions, good detail at most zoom settings, very effective video stabilization, and accurate autofocus in stills and video.

On the other hand, the platform found that this new phone from Samsung offers low contrast in backlit scenes, noise in low light and indoors, occasional local loss of detail on faces, artifact blending in all conditions, slight distortion of white balance and occasional underexposure of faces in low light conditions in video.
