Google AI Plus: New Mid-Tier AI Subscription Lands in the US and 35 More Countries

Google has officially launched Google AI Plus in the US as part of a broader expansion that adds 35 new countries and regions. The subscription is available starting today.

In the US, Google AI Plus is priced at $7.99 per month. For a limited period, new users can take advantage of a 50% discount for the first two months. Outside the US, pricing isn’t fixed globally - Google says the final cost will be shown based on your location during the sign-up process.

What’s included

Google AI Plus combines upgraded AI models with practical tools you can use every day. On the AI side, subscribers get paid access to Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro directly within the Gemini app.

Beyond chat, the plan unlocks additional tools like Flow, which focuses on AI-powered video creation, and NotebookLM, designed to help with research, note-taking, and writing tasks. It’s positioned as more than just a smarter chatbot.

Storage is also part of the deal. The plan includes 200GB of cloud storage, which can be shared with up to five family members, making it useful for households rather than just individual users.

Why this expansion matters

With this rollout, Google is making its mid-tier AI subscription widely accessible, including in the US. For users who want more advanced Gemini features without paying for a higher-end plan, AI Plus now becomes the most straightforward upgrade.

The change also affects some existing customers. Google says that Google One Premium 2TB subscribers in the newly added regions will automatically receive Google AI Plus benefits over the next few days, at no extra cost.

One downside is transparency. Google hasn’t published a full list of the 35 new countries, and local pricing details are only visible once you start the sign-up process.

What you should check

If you’re in the US, it comes down to two things: whether you’ll actually use the more powerful Gemini models, and whether the shared 200GB of storage adds value for your household.

If you’re outside the US, it’s best to open the sign-up page to confirm availability and local pricing before subscribing. And if you already pay for Google One Premium 2TB in a newly supported region, watch your account closely over the next few days to see when the AI Plus features are activated.
