Google and Microsoft Lead the Generative AI Race

Industry analysts say Amazon and Apple are lagging behind in the generative AI race with Google-parent Alphabet and Microsoft taking the lead. While Amazon has pulled back on marketing smart home devices using Alexa, it has expanded the usage of AI software in its cloud-computing business and throughout its core e-commerce business.
On the other hand, Apple’s progress in artificial intelligence has been slow despite hiring top AI scientists from Google and others. Analysts say if Microsoft gains ground with ChatGPT, it could impact an internet search deal between Apple and Google, which provides Apple with billions of dollars in high-margin revenue annually.
Meanwhile, OpenAI’s ChatGPT is only one of several generative AI technologies that could disrupt a host of industries by creating text, images, video and computer programming code on their own. Generative AI technology already finds applications in marketing, advertising, drug development, legal contracts, video gaming, customer support and digital art. ‘
In addition, Google and Microsoft are among AI stocks to watch as investors expect increased corporate demand for Microsoft’s Office productivity tools enhanced with artificial intelligence. However, it is early days to crown a winner, and there will be multiple winners as it relates to generative AI.
