Soon, Gemini 1.5 Pro will be accessible as a side panel via a button on Google Drive. This sidebar will allow users to search through documents or scan data for specific information. In Gmail, Gemini can assist with writing emails or summarizing incoming messages.

In Google Slides, Gemini will help create agendas, summarize presentations, generate new slides, or create custom images. For Google Sheets, it will generate table templates, create formulas, and assist with data sorting.

The Gemini AI is also being integrated into the Gmail app for iOS and Android. Some features, like email highlights similar to Google’s “AI Overviews,” will be available immediately. Other features, like “Contextual Smart Reply” and “Gmail Q&A,” will be added later. Google has been incorporating AI features into Gmail since last year.

However, the Gemini sidebar and Gmail integration will not be automatically available for free users. These new features will only be accessible to those who subscribe to Gemini through Google Workspace, Gemini Education, or Google One AI subscriptions. Free users won’t have these AI tools integrated into their services.

While the integration of Gemini can enhance productivity by helping users create documents, sheets, and presentations more efficiently, it also raises privacy concerns. Users might be uncomfortable with Google’s AI having access to their content, files, and data.

According to Google’s Gemini policy, “Google collects your Gemini Apps conversations, related product usage information, info about your location, and your feedback. Google uses this data, consistent with our Privacy Policy, to provide, improve, and develop Google products and services and machine-learning technologies, including Google’s enterprise products such as Google Cloud
