GTA 6: 17-year-old hacker who released the game’s videos was arrested in London

The beginning of this week was very turbulent as several videos of the highly anticipated GTA 6 appeared on the web, revealing in advance several details of the next game from Rockstar Games.

Within hours of that event, Rockstar Games requested an investigation by the UK’s National Crime Agency, which resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old in London.

The teenager, originally from Oxfordshire, was arrested on suspicion of hacking and remains in custody at this time.

The videos, which were made unavailable due to a copyright claim, initially surfaced on GTAForums last Sunday, including over 90 gameplay clips from an alleged “test build”, and the data breach was from the same group as recently had access to Uber’s systems.

Rockstar Games has since confirmed that the breach itself has not impacted the development of the next installment in the popular series, but release dates and other information such as availability across platforms have yet to be officially announced.

Leaks have confirmed that there will be two main protagonists in GTA 6, as well as the Vice City setting, which has been heavily speculated.
