HBO Unveils Release Date for Harry Potter Series with a Gentle Reminder to Be Patient

Considering the economic magnitude of the project, this marks HBO‘s most significant endeavor to date. The renowned production studio, responsible for iconic series like Game of Thrones and True Detective, is currently engaged in crafting a television adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s immensely successful work, Harry Potter.

And now we know when this series will be available on Max, Warner’s streaming platform. David Zaslav, head of Warner Bros. Discovery recently confirmed the series’ release year:

“The last film was made over a dozen years ago. I was in London a few weeks ago with Casey and Channing, and we had a great time with JK and his team (who are also executive producers). Everyone is excited to revive this franchise.” , says a visibly excited Zaslav, before adding: “We can’t wait to share a decade of new stories with fans around the world on Max. Our goal is a 2026 launch.”

If the production of the adaptation is so long, it is also because the project takes on pharaonic dimensions, with HBP planning to extend the Harry Potter series for another decade with the broadcast of one season per year (from 2026 to 2036).

Each season will focus on an entire school year at Hogwarts School of Wizards and, a priori, the series will often allow us to go beyond Rowling’s original story. Given the general quality of HBO’s productions, we can bet that these artistic liberties shouldn’t bother the saga’s many fans too much.

For now there’s just a “little” patience left…
