HP Unveils Print AI: A Smart Assistant for Effortless Printing and Personalized Support
HP introduced its new digital assistant, HP Print AI, designed to handle a wide range of printing tasks, including customer support. According to Mary Fish, HP’s Senior Vice President of Print Software Platforms, the days of navigating through print dialog boxes and radio buttons are over. Instead, users can issue simple voice commands, like “Print four copies, double-sided,” and HP Print AI will understand and execute them.
The assistant also simplifies printer setup by guiding users through the process, from downloading necessary software to getting the printer running, all without the need to consult a manual. Beyond setup, HP Print AI can monitor the printer’s status, detecting issues like paper jams or low ink levels. It also personalizes its interactions based on user preferences, making it a more effective customer service tool than traditional chatbots.
One standout feature of HP Print AI is “Perfect Output,” which helps users optimize document layout for printing, reducing wasted paper and incorrect prints. This feature automatically adjusts images and text to fit an 8-by-11 sheet and provides a preview before printing. It’s particularly useful for web-based documents, travel itineraries, and how-to guides.
HP also previewed future features, such as the ability to create custom greeting cards with personalized photos and the option to include gift cards. Currently, HP Print AI’s “Perfect Output” feature is available as a beta to select users, with plans for a wider rollout next year. However, it’s not yet clear if the service will come with additional costs.
HP emphasized that unlike some chatbots, HP Print AI will maintain strict privacy standards, ensuring that users’ data and conversations remain confidential.
