Identify Songs by Humming with YouTube Music on Android

Have a song stuck in your head but can’t recall the artist? With YouTube Music on Android, you can now hum a few bars, and the app will (hopefully) identify it for you.

Google tested this feature last year and is now rolling it out more broadly. To use it, ensure you have at least version 7.02 of the app. Tap the magnifying glass in the top-right corner of YouTube Music for Android and look for the waveform icon. Tap it and hum or sing the song.

Once YouTube Music identifies the song based on your humming, it will show a full-screen results page with the song’s name, artist, release year, album, and cover art.

This feature is similar to the hum-to-search tool Google introduced in 2020 for Google Search. Traditional YouTube and the music-streaming app Deezer also offer a hum-to-identify feature.
