Kia’s EV4 Electric Sedan Set to Arrive in the US by 2026

Kia has confirmed that its upcoming EV4 electric sedan will make its way to the US in 2026, following initial releases in South Korea and Europe. This announcement is welcome news for American EV enthusiasts, as the EV4’s US debut was not guaranteed when the concept was first unveiled in October 2023.
While Kia has yet to disclose official pricing and range estimates for the US market, the company positions the EV4 as an affordable electric sedan. This suggests a likely price range between $35,000 and $40,000. In Europe, the EV4’s WLTP-rated range falls between 267 and 391 miles, though the EPA rating in the US is expected to be slightly lower, potentially between 250 and 350 miles.
Charging, Features, and Competition
One of the EV4’s standout features is its fast-charging capability, allowing it to recharge in approximately 30 minutes. By 2026, it will also gain access to Tesla’s Supercharger network, as Kia works to integrate Supercharger compatibility across its entire EV lineup by spring of that year. Additionally, the EV4 supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functions, meaning it can supply power to homes or external devices.
Kia’s biggest challenge in the US market may be shifting consumer preferences, as SUVs dominate sales while affordable electric sedans remain scarce. The EV4 will compete with models like the Hyundai Ioniq 6 ($38,000, 240–291 miles of range) and the Tesla Model 3 ($42,500, 282–363 miles of range), both of which are well-established in the segment. However, Kia is betting that a fresh take on the electric sedan could reinvigorate interest in the category.
Tech & Connectivity
Inside, the EV4 features a modern cockpit with a 30-inch widescreen display and a reimagined center console designed for improved storage. The dashboard will support streaming services, including YouTube and Netflix, likely requiring a subscription. A digital key feature will allow drivers to unlock the car using their smartphone or Apple Watch.
Kia is also introducing over-the-air (OTA) updates via mobile devices, enabling drivers to update their car’s software remotely. The system will offer customizable display themes, such as NBA and Disney content, to personalize the driving experience.
Safety & Future Expansions
Kia plans to equip the EV4 with its latest suite of autonomous driving aids, including an upgraded version of “Highway Driving Assist 2” (HDA2). The company aims for the vehicle to achieve top safety ratings, including a five-star US NCAP score and IIHS Top Safety Pick designation.
In addition to the EV4 sedan, Kia recently showcased a hatchback variant and the EV2 concept, though these models are currently only planned for the European market, according to reports from Car & Driver.
With its combination of affordability, cutting-edge tech, and fast-charging capabilities, the EV4 could be a game-changer for American EV buyers when it arrives in 2026.
