Microsoft Introduces AI Magic Eraser Feature to Windows 10 and 11 Photos App

Microsoft unveils a recent update for the Windows 10 and 11 Photos app, incorporating the magic eraser function. This feature empowers users to effortlessly remove undesirable elements from their photos, leveraging the capabilities of artificial intelligence, as proclaimed by Microsoft.

The system is quite simple: just open an image in the Windows 10 or 11 Photos app, select the new magic eraser option, erase the elements on the screen that bother you and then validate. The application will then do whatever is necessary to delete these elements, while using artificial intelligence to fill in what it has deleted. In fact, the idea is not to suddenly have empty spaces in the photo.

This functionality has been highlighted mainly on smartphones from Google with its Pixel and Samsung with its Galaxy. Here, Microsoft announces an equivalent, but for Windows 10 and 11 PCs.

The new feature is available in the Microsoft Photos app. But for now, this only concerns users of the Windows Insider program. These are the people who have the trial versions of Windows. They need to update the application to version 2024.11020.21001.0 to have the magic eraser.

Microsoft has not yet announced when it will be available to everyone and on all devices.
