Netflix doesn’t seem interested in the Apple Vision Pro

Streaming platforms are highly expected to offer experiences specific to Apple’s Vision Pro headset, but that doesn’t seem to be the case for Netflix. As reported by Bloomberg, Netflix currently has no plans to develop a dedicated app for virtual reality and Apple’s augmented reality viewer.

Netflix already offers a more immersive streaming experience on other virtual reality platforms. For the Meta Quest line, the Netflix app is able to recreate a virtual room with a large TV and also furniture to make the environment more cozy.

As Apple says developers can easily port their iPad apps to work on the Apple Vision Pro, it’s likely that Netflix will at least port that tablet app to Apple’s viewer. However, the competition seems more inclined to offer native experiences on the Apple Vision Pro. Disney has confirmed that it will produce interactive 3D experiences as part of the Disney+ app for Star Wars and ESPN’s 3D sports replays.

Meanwhile, Netflix has decided to celebrate the James Webb telescope with “The Cosmic Time Machine”, the fourth episode of the series Unknown.
