New “Perseus” Android Malware Can Steal Data and Take Over Your Phone ⚠️📱

Cybersecurity experts have uncovered a new Android threat called “Perseus” that can extract highly sensitive data from smartphones - and in some cases, gain full control over the device. The malware was identified by the Mobile Threat Intelligence Team at ThreatFabric.

According to their findings, Perseus marks a more advanced phase in the evolution of mobile threats. It builds on the foundation of earlier malware strains like Cerberus and Phoenix, but takes things further. Instead of just stealing login details, it is designed to go after valuable personal and financial data - especially information stored inside note-taking apps on Android devices.

Note-taking apps at risk

Researchers found that several note-taking applications could be targeted by Perseus, making users who store passwords, banking details, or private information in such apps particularly vulnerable.

The discovery highlights how mobile malware is becoming more sophisticated - shifting from simple credential theft to deeper, more invasive access to users’ personal data and digital lives.
