NotebookLM: Enhanced Research and Content Creation with New Features
One of the standout features of NotebookLM is its ability to assist users by processing their uploaded materials, such as summarizing content, answering questions, or generating new material using the AI assistant. Previously supporting Google Docs, PDFs, and text files, the platform now allows users to upload Google Slides and web URLs.
The addition of URL support is particularly useful for research. Users can now analyze online sources more effectively, asking NotebookLM questions about webpage content or transforming a webpage into a guide for deeper insights.
NotebookLM has also introduced inline citations, providing references for its responses. This feature enhances accuracy and reliability, especially when creating new text. The AI can now generate content from images, charts, and diagrams in Slides or Docs, thanks to its Gemini 1.5 Pro upgrade, which includes multimodal capabilities. Citations for visual elements are included, making it easier to use them as evidence in discussions or presentations.
A new feature, Notebook Guide, offers a concise summary of all uploaded sources. This tool can be used to create additional resources like study guides, FAQs, timelines, briefing documents, and more, streamlining the organization of information.
Additionally, Google has expanded access to the upgraded NotebookLM to users in 200 countries and territories worldwide. You can start by visiting Google Labs or the NotebookLM website, creating a notebook, uploading your materials, and exploring the platform’s versatile capabilities.
