Research Claims – 18.2 Million People Globally lost their lives so far by Pandemic

Research Claims – 18.2 Million people have lost their lives in the world so far by Pandemic while the official figure is being told only 6 million.
A shocking research has come to the fore amidst the news of the fourth wave of Corona. According to this research published in the Lancet journal, the actual deaths during the epidemic could be three times more than the officially reported deaths. According to the records, by the end of 2021, 6 million  people died due to corona in the world. But the scientists involved in the study say that from the beginning of 2020 to the end of 2021, at least 82 million people have lost their lives.

Research done on data from 187 countries

This research has been done by scientists of the University of Washington, USA. According to team lead Hydong Wang, the unrecorded deaths were missed due to lack of resources. Also, many of these deaths were attributed to indirect causes of the pandemic, such as lack of health care, poor economy and lockdown.

For this research, scientists gathered the Corona Death Reports of 2020 and 2021 from 187 countries. By extracting their weekly and monthly data, such models were made, so that the rest of the deaths could be known. In the investigation, it was found that for every one thousand people of the world, there was one more death due to corona. This death was not recorded in the official figures.

Most unofficial deaths in South Asia

According to research, the figures of deaths due to corona are not the same in every corner of the world. South Asia did not record 5.3 million deaths, while in North Africa and the Middle East this figure stood at 1.7 million. There were 1.4 million unofficial deaths in Eastern Europe.

At the end of the research, scientists have said that the figures of corona deaths recorded in all countries present half the image of the epidemic, according to them, the level of devastation caused by corona in the world, if seen according to the figures, is nothing.

The study further states that in order to properly monitor future epidemics, we have to strengthen the death registration system.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also emphasized not to ignore the deaths related to corona. In February 2021, the WHO, in collaboration with the United Nations (UN) Department of Economic and Social Affairs, also formed an advisory group, so that the subject could be understood at a larger level.
