Samsung’s Endeavors Towards Dust Resistance: Innovations for the Galaxy Z Series
In each new generation, Samsung improves its equipment, and one of the novelties of the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold 5 is its water resistance with an IPX8 protection index. But as we can see, it is not an IP68 certification like most smartphones. This means that they lack dust resistance, something Samsung says it is working to make available in future models.
In a recent statement, TM Roh, the esteemed head of Samsung’s mobile division, acknowledged the growing demand from consumers for dust protection in foldable phones. Emphasizing the complexity of these innovative devices, he revealed that Samsung is putting forth significant efforts to address this challenge. However, owing to the intricate nature of foldable phones, with multiple moving parts, achieving effective dust protection has proven to be quite challenging.
Are there any dust resistant foldable smartphones? The answer is yes. The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, for example, is IP52 rated. That means it doesn’t offer much protection against water, but it does offer solid protection and other portable debris.
Samsung says it’s difficult to create dust resistance in foldable smartphones
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 were announced at the end of last July. So we have at least a year to wait before we see their successors with this potential resistance.
