Seamless Fitness Data Integration: Health Connect Joins Android 14

Announced in May 2022 and made available in the form of a beta version last November, Health Connect should be integrated into Android 14. For those unfamiliar, this is an application that was developed in collaboration between Samsung and Google, and aims to simplify the synchronization of data between the various fitness applications.

The first developer preview of Android 14 already hinted that the application in question could be integrated directly into the operating system, and now this is actually happening. To do this, health and fitness data must be migrated to the new version and Google wants to make the transition as easy as possible for users.

Data migration should be quick and painless, although this is highly dependent on the amount of data recently collected. After the migration, the Health Connect app installed via the Google Play Store can be removed and only the built-in Android 14 version will remain available, which will be updated via system updates.

The hope is that other major manufacturers, such as Xiaomi, Samsung itself, and others, will finally connect their health and fitness applications to the Health Connect hub, in order to standardize the experience offered to users, which is still quite fragmented in this area.
