Speculation Surrounds Possible PlayStation 5 Pro Launch in Late 2024, But Is It the Right Time?”

Recent rumors are swirling about the potential release of a PlayStation 5 Pro by the end of 2024. While this news may spark excitement among some PlayStation enthusiasts, the timing may not be ideal for the company.

Sony recently unveiled a new and slimmer design for the existing PlayStation 5, which has maintained strong demand in the market. The current model’s sales are robust enough that Sony doesn’t face immediate concerns about meeting demand. However, the company fell short of its expected console sales in the last fiscal year, leading to speculation.

Despite the rumors circulating, some argue that they don’t align with the current circumstances. In this context, the purported launch of a PlayStation 5 Pro could pose challenges rather than benefits for Sony. And they don’t make sense because an eventual launch will mean that the console won’t have any new important games to accompany its launch. This was admitted by Sony, when it presented its financial results, which stated that it has no plans to “launch new important titles from existing franchises next year”. This means that there will be no big exclusive games to motivate the purchase of the PlayStation 5 Pro.

The question that arises is whether this console will really provide a real advance compared to the console currently on the market. The lack of truly exclusive titles for it can make owners of the current console feel that they already have what is needed to play everything that Sony has already released, making this console a superfluous addition.

Finally, its price can be an obstacle for consumers. The slim version of the PS5 saw its price increase by 50 euros, to 549.99 euros (although it is currently on sale). If the price of the PS5 Pro follows this trend, it could be sold at a prohibitive price of 599.99 euros.
