TCL Unveils 60 XE Nxtpaper Smartphone and Nxtpaper 11 Plus Tablet

At CES, TCL introduced the 60 XE Nxtpaper smartphone and the Nxtpaper 11 Plus tablet, but it wasn’t until Mobile World Congress that they were showcased in person. These devices stand out for incorporating TCL’s latest Nxtpaper technology, designed to offer a paper-like display experience. This innovative screen technology also features a monochrome mode to enhance long reading sessions. After getting some hands-on time with both devices, here are my first impressions.
TCL 60 XE Nxtpaper
Building on the previous 50 XE Nxtpaper, this updated model boasts improved specifications. It features a 6.8-inch display, a 50MP primary camera, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 32MP front camera. Powering the device is a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
Despite its large screen, the phone feels surprisingly light and easy to handle. TCL is known for producing budget-friendly devices, and while the materials aren’t premium, the build quality remains solid. The back panel has a soft texture, and the phone is available in a single color—Space Blue.
One of the standout features is the Nxtpaper display. Unlike traditional glossy screens, this one has a fully matte finish, reducing glare and improving readability. Colors appear rich, though visibility can be slightly impacted under direct sunlight. Additionally, the 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth navigation, while the dedicated monochrome mode makes extended reading sessions more comfortable.
TCL plans to release the 60 XE Nxtpaper in Canada first, followed by a US launch, with a retail price of approximately $225.
TCL Nxtpaper 11 Plus
The Nxtpaper 11 Plus follows last year’s Tab 10 Nxtpaper and is positioned as a global model, meaning it will be available in multiple markets.
With an 11.5-inch 2.2K display, the tablet is sizable but remains lightweight, making it comfortable to use. Its design is simple yet functional, featuring well-placed buttons and ports for convenience. Running on Android 15, TCL’s user interface feels smooth, allowing for effortless multitasking without lag.
Like the 60 XE Nxtpaper, this tablet incorporates TCL’s signature Nxtpaper display technology. The matte finish enhances visual comfort and gives digital content a unique aesthetic.
Under the hood, it runs on a MediaTek Helio G100 processor with two configuration options: 8GB RAM with 256GB storage or 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. The device is powered by an 8,000mAh battery, supporting 33W wired charging.
Similar to the phone, the Nxtpaper 11 Plus will launch in Canada first before expanding to the US. It is expected to retail for around $250.
