Telegram Partners With Elon Musk’s xAI to Integrate Grok AI

Telegram is gearing up for a major artificial intelligence boost through a new partnership with xAI, Elon Musk’s AI company. The integration will bring xAI’s chatbot, Grok, into Telegram, offering users a wide range of AI-powered features.
Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov announced the collaboration via Musk’s platform X, noting, “This summer, Telegram users will get access to the most advanced AI technology available.”
A demo video released with the announcement highlighted Grok’s capabilities within Telegram. These include smart text editing before sending messages, summarizing lengthy chats, breaking down documents, moderating group chats, checking facts in Channels, and even generating images for custom stickers and avatars.
According to Durov, the agreement spans one year and is valued at $300 million in a combination of cash and equity. As part of the deal, Grok will become Telegram’s default AI assistant, and the messaging app will earn a 50% share of any Grok-related subscription revenue generated through the platform.
Still, the scope of that access remains somewhat unclear. For instance, Grok is expected to assist with moderation in group chats and Channels, raising questions about whether those interactions will also be shared with xAI.
