Tesla’s First Electric Truck Delivered to Pepsi Company

Tesla has started delivering its Electric Truck. The company claims this truck is three times more powerful than any diesel truck on the road. The truck can reach speeds of 0-60mph (97 km/h) in 20 seconds. Prices could start at US$150,000 .

First Truck Delivered to Pepsi Company

CEO Elon Musk delivered the first truck to soft drink company Pepsi at an event at the company’s Gigafactory in Sparks, Nevada. Pepsi ordered 100 trucks in December 2017 when the Tesla Semi was first unveiled at an event. Other high-profile customers on hold include Walmart and UPS. The truck was supposed to be delivered in 2019 but was delayed due to Covid.

Future of Trucking

Tesla has described the Semi as the future of trucking. Musk said at the event: ‘They want to drive it. I mean, it looks like this thing is from the future. It’s like an animal. It’s actually like driving a regular car, not like driving a truck”. Unique central seats have been installed in this truck for better visibility. On the right is a console with cup holders and a wireless phone charger, as well as a large screen on either side. That being said, the company claims that the all-electric architecture reduces both the risk of rollover and cabin intrusion in the event of an accident. Unique central seats were created for better visibility in Tesla’s trucks. Battery charging by braking (truck splitting in two and suddenly tipping dangerously to one side), regenerative braking to increase battery efficiency. But the released energy is stored .

 

500-mile trip with 36.74 tons of cargo

Musk reported that one of the 8 semi-trailers completed a 500-mile trip with 81,000 pounds of cargo. The journey led from the Tesla factory in Fremont, California to San Diego on the southern tip of the state. There was no need to charge the battery on this trip. Many challenges ahead of the electric truck Large equipment manufacturers such as Daimler, Volvo, Peterbilt and BYD are also working on their own electric long-haul trucks. However, there are still enormous challenges to be overcome before electric vehicles can be introduced across the board. It faces challenges ranging from weight restrictions to the availability of convenient charging stations.
