US Twitch Streamer Kai Cenat Sets New Record with 300,000 Subscribers

Kai Cenat, a 21-year-old US streamer, has broken the record for the most Twitch subscribers, amassing 300,000 subscribers on the Amazon-owned streaming service. Cenat launched his “subathon” on February 1st, which involved streaming 24 hours a day for a month while chatting, gaming, interviewing guests, and even sleeping on camera.

The event officially surpassed former Twitch record holder Ludwig Ahgren on March 1st. Twitch is a popular livestreaming platform where people typically play video games while chatting to viewers, and subscriptions are offered to users as a means of supporting their favorite streamers and creators on the platform.

The basic subscription package in the UK costs £3.99, or $4.99 in the US, with additional tiers available at higher prices. Users can also gift subscriptions, which can increase subscriber numbers, thanks in part to wealthier fans who pay for monthly subscriptions for other viewers.

The subathon is a popular trend on Twitch, where a countdown timer is set and extended every time someone subscribes to the channel. Cenat’s achievement highlights the platform’s growth and potential for content creators to build large audiences and revenue streams.
