Warner Bros. cancels Wonder Woman 3 Movie
If The Hollywood Reporter is to be believed, Warner Bros. will have ordered to cancel the production of Wonder Woman 3. When the film from DC Studios was presented to them, the new leaders of the group thought that as it was the film was not adequate and they will have had it canceled.
The new heads of DC Studios at Warner Bros. James Gunn and Peter Safran have spent time planning their projects extensively recently and have a plan in the works that they’re ready to show the head of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, for approval. One film is missing from the list: Wonder Woman 3. Wonder Woman 3, which would again feature Gal Gadot in the lead role and Patty Jenkins directing, “is presumed dead in its current incarnation,” sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
Patty Jenkins recently delivered her treatment for the third film co-written by Geoff Johns. However, James Gunn, Peter Safran and the co-CEOs of Warner Bros. Pictures, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, told Patty Jenkins that this film did not fit into DC Studios’ new plan. Patty Jenkins directed the first two films, Wonder Woman in 2017 and Wonder Woman 1984 in 2020.
At the same time, DC’s new plan could be to end the Snyderverse (universe started by Zack Snyder) and not offer Man of Steel 2 with Henry Cavill as Superman, as well as ending the Aquaman films, with Jason Momoa.
The recent announcement of Henry Cavill’s return as Superman wasn’t premature because there were serious plans for a sequel and even another Justice League movie featuring the Snyderverse cast. But James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans could omit them entirely.
