New Motorcycle Mode for Riders
One of the biggest additions is a navigation mode created specifically for motorcycle riders. Unlike cars, motorcycles often benefit from different route options, including narrow roads and alternate shortcuts while avoiding hazards that can be more dangerous on two wheels.
The new mode uses AI to recommend bike-friendly routes and alerts riders about potential risks such as:
- Potholes
- Speed bumps
- Road obstacles
- Other hazardous conditions for motorcycles
The feature is launching first in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, and the Philippines, with support for additional countries planned in future updates.
Smarter Navigation That Learns Your Driving Habits
Waze is also making route planning more personal. Instead of always choosing the fastest possible route, the app can now learn from your driving history.
For example, if you regularly avoid highways during rush hour or prefer neighborhood streets, Waze will begin recommending those familiar routes automatically. Users who prefer traditional navigation can disable this personalized routing option at any time.
Easier Hazard Reporting with Your Voice
Drivers can now report road conditions more naturally using a new conversational voice reporting feature. Rather than navigating through menus, users can simply describe issues such as accidents, road closures, or traffic hazards while driving.
This hands-free approach aims to make reporting faster and safer.
New “Less Chatty” Voice Mode
For users who find frequent voice prompts distracting, Waze has added a Less Chatty option.
When enabled, the app reduces unnecessary spoken notifications while continuing to announce essential navigation instructions and safety alerts. This means fewer interruptions when listening to music, podcasts, or audiobooks.
The conversational reporting feature and Less Chatty mode are now rolling out to users worldwide.
Gemini AI Brings Smarter Destination Search
Waze is also integrating Google’s Gemini AI to improve voice-based destination searches.
Instead of searching with simple keywords, users will be able to make more natural requests, such as:
- “Find the cheapest gas station nearby.”
- “Show parking near the shopping mall.”
- “Locate the nearest EV charging station.”
Gemini will understand these conversational requests and return relevant destinations. The feature is expected to arrive first for Waze beta testers before expanding to all users.
This update marks one of Waze’s biggest feature expansions in recent years. With motorcycle-focused navigation, AI-powered personalized routing, improved voice interaction, and Gemini-enhanced search, the app is becoming smarter and more adaptable to different driving styles. As these features continue rolling out worldwide, Waze aims to deliver a more customized and safer navigation experience for every type of driver.
