Xbox announces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II free multiplayer this weekend

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II multiplayer is free this weekend and doesn’t even need Xbox Live Gold

Xbox has announced that players can play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II multiplayer for free this coming weekend. Unlike the Free Play Days events, the CoD: MWII Multiplayer Free Access event does not require any Xbox Live Gold subscription to play. Best of all, the event is underway and runs until next Monday.

As part of this event, players will be able to play multiplayer across multiple maps, including Farm 18, El Asilo, and Shipment. Playable modes include Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination and Kill Confirmed. You can also play each of these modes in third person. Explaining further about the third-person versions of the game, Xbox says:

“Get a new perspective in Modern Warfare II’s new third-person playlists. In this variant, the camera is positioned over your Operator’s shoulder, giving you a wider view of your surroundings and providing a unique gaming experience compared to the traditional first-person view.”

Those who decide to participate in the Multiplayer Free Access event will need to install an additional download to start playing. The event is already underway, so if you don’t have Xbox Live Gold, you can get in online absolutely free this weekend.
