Antoine Griezmann History, Teams, and Trophies
Antoine Griezmann History and Highlights
A mainstay among Spain’s best domestic teams for the best part of a decade, Griezmann’s unsuccessful stint at Barcelona shouldn’t overshadow his achievements elsewhere. Over his career, he’s brought glittering creativity to an industrious Atletico Madrid and played a crucial role in the modern era of the France national team’s success.
Ecuador National Football Team
Ecuador’s football team is one with a history of unique moments. Life can’t be easy surrounded by some of the great footballing nations such as Brazil and Argentina.
Despite the high expectations often placed on the team, Ecuador doesn’t have a huge trophy cabinet when it comes to football. Having said that, there have been occasions when the team has fought it out with some of the best sides in the world.
Italy National Football
The Italy National Football Team was the first European nation to win the most prestigious trophy in world football, and it was also the first team to win two back-to-back World Cup titles. Two of Italy’s four World Cup wins came at times when the country’s domestic football scene was marred in deep controversy. The Italians have also won the European championships twice.
Saudi Arabia National Football
Saudi Arabia is a nation with a growing interest in football and fiery rivalries with some of its regional neighbors. They have a number of Asian trophies to their name and have become a regular at the World Cup in modern times.
The resources being poured into the sport in Saudi Arabia suggest that the national team will only get better from here on out.
Tunisia National Football Team
Few teams have had as much success on the African continent as the Tunisia National football team over the years. The sport goes back a long way in the country, and although the team’s success is yet to translate onto the World Cup stage regularly, the team is constantly improving.
Croatia National Football
While they may not be the first name that pops into my head when you think of the great footballing side, it’s impossible to deny the quality that’s shined through the Croatian national team over the past 15 years.
The team has repeatedly punched above its small population and proven to be one of the most consistent modern European national sides.
Switzerland National Football
Football is the number 1 sport in Switzerland like it is in its central European neighbors. But despite football’s widespread popularity in the country, Switzerland’s success in international football has been undistinguished. A-Team Nati has played in three World Cup quarterfinals, the last of which came in 1954.
Poland National Football Team
The Poland National Football team has gone through a rollercoaster ride since playing its first international match in 1921. During its golden years, it would fight toe-to-toe with the elites. An Olympic gold medal and two third-place World Cup finishes are the highlights of the glorious past of Polish football.
But, Poland fans also saw the opposite side of the coin as their team could not qualify for the European Championships for 48 years and has been absent from the World Cup knockout stages since 1986.
Japan National Football
Japan National Football only started to take it seriously relatively recently. However, in the few decades that the country has been competing professionally, progress has been fast.
Not only is the quality on the pitch of interest, but the team’s relationship with other nations is truly unique, leading to plenty of oddities throughout the years.
Australia National Football
Although the country seemingly has an interest in a wide variety of sports, the Australian love for football has played a crucial role in the country’s regular World Cup appearances in the 21st century.
With a number of regional trophies to their name, the Australia national football team, or the Socceroos, as they’re affectionately known, go into the World Cup placed 39th in the FIFA world rankings.
Qatar National Football
By all accounts, the Qatar National Football team is one of the newer names in the grand history of international football. The sport wasn’t played in any official capacity in the country until 60 years later than some places in Europe had begun.
Although the team has never neared the top of the world rankings, the resources and dedication being poured into the sport in the country suggest that it may be only a few decades until Qatar competes with some of the best.
Morocco National Football Team
Morocco National Football, or the Atlas Lions as they’re affectionately known, is one of Africa’s most talented footballing sides. They have been one of the best teams on the continent for decades now and go into the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in great shape.
Iran National Football
When you think of footballing countries, Iran probably isn’t the first team that comes to mind. However, they are relatively successful in Asia and have climbed as high as 15th in the FIFA rankings before.
The 1979 revolution in the country caused a decline in enthusiasm for the sport, but football seems to have bounced back stronger than ever in Iran in the 21st century.
South Korea National Football
You may not hear about it so much in Europe, but the South Korean football team is a side feared throughout Asia. Regularly qualifying for the World Cup, the team initially struggled to make an impact at the tournament before making themselves an unforgettable name when they reached the tournament’s semi-finals at the 2002 edition, which they co-hosted with Japan.
Serbia National Football Team
Serbia is in a part of the world that has a messy and convoluted modern history. Have no doubt, this is deeply entwined with the football culture of the country and its neighbors.
While the Serbia National Football Team may not have yet reached the global status that its Yugoslavian predecessor once did, the side has a flurry of top-level players in the modern era and is represented in most of Europe’s top leagues.
Senegal national football team
The Senegal national football team has a history of exceeding expectations and upsetting prestigious teams. Over the last couple of decades, though, the Lions of Teranga have started to become a respectable force in their own right.
Their current FIFA world ranking of 18th is the highest in their history, and the team goes into the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as the champions of their continent for the first time ever.
Uruguay National Football
Often known as the first team to win the World Cup, Uruguay’s excellence isn’t something consigned to history, with the team producing many of the world’s best strikers over the last 20 years.
They perform just as well on the co
