Cairo International Airport (CAI) serves as the primary international airport for Cairo, Egypt and the entire country. Located 15km northeast of Cairo, CAI provides connections to destinations across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. Upon arrival at CAI, all passengers proceed through immigration, claim their baggage, and pass through customs. The entire arrival process typically takes between 30 to 90 minutes depending on the volume of passengers. CAI has two terminals: Terminal 1 serves EgyptAir flights and several other international carriers. It features currency exchange services, restaurants, duty-free shopping, and a business lounge. Terminal 2 serves charter and low-cost airlines. It has basic amenities like currency exchange and dining options. Passengers arriving into Terminal 2 and connecting to EgyptAir or other airlines in Terminal 1 will have to exit the secured area, take a shuttle between terminals, and pass through security screening again.
