The term "Digital Nomad" only crossed my radar in 2023, despite having lived the lifestyle for several years prior. For many across the globe, the concept emerged as a silver lining from the Covid Pandemic. It took a crisis of such magnitude for professionals to realize the potential of remote work: the ability to toil not just from one's homeland, but from any corner of the world with a stable internet connection. In April 2022, South Africa unveiled its intentions to introduce a remote work visa, joining a cohort of nations already embracing Digital Nomads and permitting them to attain temporary residency while conducting remote work for companies situated beyond their borders.
