From Ancient Greek ἀκρώμιον (akrṓmion), variant of ἀκρωμία (akrōmía, “acromion”), from ἄκρος (ákros, “summit”) + ὦμ- (ôm-, “shoulder”) + -ιον (-ion, “noun suffix”). Compare -ion, especially in acropodion.
