From my- (“relating to muscle”) + asthenia (“weakness”), from Ancient Greek ἀσθένεια (asthéneia, “weakness”). By surface analysis, my- (“muscle”) + a- (“not”) + sthen- (“strength”) + -ia (“disease”).
