neurodermatitis
neu·ro·der·matitis
noun
1.
dermatitis in which localized areas (especially the forearms or back of the neck or outer part of the ankle) itch persistently; cause is unknown
Origin
From neuro- (“nerve”) + dermatitis, from the (now disproven) theory that assumed a nerve disorder as the origin of the inflammation.
