1. Anorexia Nervosa
This disorder often develops in adolescence and affects more women than men. People suffering from this always feel themselves to be fat, even if they are thin or thin. Patients with anorexia nervosa stay away from foods that can lead to weight gain. They are afraid of being fat. Such people constantly measure their weight. They are worried about the size and shape of their body, which shakes their confidence.
2. Bulimia Nervosa
Like anorexia, bulimia develops in adolescence and affects women more. People with bulimia have a habit of eating too much. They keep on eating until they start feeling sick. Such people are unable to control the food.
Patients with bulimia nervosa compensate by vomiting, fasting, taking medications, and exercising more. Their confidence is also low due to monitoring the weight.
3. Binge Eating Disorder
People suffering from binge eating disorder are unable to control their food intake.
This disorder develops in adolescence or puberty. Its symptoms are similar to those of bulimia nervosa. People suffering from this tend to eat too much in a short period of time. They are unable to control their food. After this, feel ashamed to consider themselves guilty of this mistake.
People with binge eating disorder do not compensate, so they become overweight or obese. They are more prone to heart disease, diabetes, stroke.
4. Pica
In pica eating disorder, people eat things that are not considered food. This includes snow, dust, mud, chalk, paper, soap, hair, cloth, wool, detergent, etc. Pica most commonly affects children, pregnant women and people suffering from mental illnesses. These people lack nutrition and there is a fear of consuming anything poisonous.
5. Rumination Disorder
Rumination disorder develops in newborns and young children. This can happen to adults too. In this, the person regurgitates the eaten food and chews it again. After this either swallows the chewed food or spits it out. This is a serious problem that requires therapy.
In newborns, this disorder develops at the age of 3 to 12 months. After that it gets fixed on its own.
6. Avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder
In Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, children are very reluctant to eat.
This disorder develops in newborns and young children and can persist until adulthood. It is common in both women and men. In this, children are very reluctant to eat. Even when he is an adult, he eats very little food. The weight of such children and people remains very less. They lack nutrition. Due to this disorder, the height of children also remains short. They have trouble with the smell, taste, colour, temperature and texture of the food.
