Dental implants are prosthetic tooth roots inserted into the jawbone to support a bridge or replacement tooth. They are often constructed of titanium, a biocompatible material that enables osseointegration, a process by which the implant fuses with the jawbone. A prosthetic tooth or bridge is added to the implant once it has fused with the jawbone to provide a solid and long-lasting substitute for missing teeth.
