Everyone avoids talking about the fairly common condition known as urinary incontinence (UI), which is the involuntary leakage of urine. Due to the stigma attached to it, many people are too ashamed to seek assistance. However, the majority of causes of UI are treatable with conventional or complementary treatments. UI occurs when the muscles in the bladder that control the flow of urine contract or relax unintentionally, leading to leaks or uncontrolled urination. It affects women far more frequently than men. Although UI in and of itself is not a disease, it can be a sign of another condition.
