Many people who come to see me are surprised when I tell them that discussing emotions is a show of strength. We have been programmed to think that appearing happy and creating the illusion of positivity: Good vibes only is the goal that must be attained. No wonder then that around 50% of Americans struggle with anxiety and depression silently and alone without discussing it with their loved ones. It breaks my heart. We are not meant to be perfect and always happy and emotions are like waves we respond to our imperfect environment with gradient of feelings. Just like there is rain, sunshine, snow and wind, there is sadness, joy, disappointment and anger among others inside of us.
