Pain is one of the most wonderfully complex and interesting phenomenons to study. Generally designed to protect us, generally horrible to experience, and can be absolutely debilitating in a certain context. I consider myself in the wider physiotherapy profession as a pain expert in human movement. To me, it’s all about why – why is the pain there, what is driving it and can we get rid of it as quickly as possible. And I will apply these questions to everyone from a garden variety ankle sprain to a victim of a car accident who can’t even handle the lightest of touches near their neck.
