Hydrochloric acid is a clear, colourless to yellow, odorous HCl solution in water. It's a corrosive industrial acid. Other industrial acids are more prone to oxidation-reduction reactions than monoprotic acids. Because it contains a non-reactive, non-toxic chloride ion, it is one of the safest powerful acids to work with.
