In Germany its called "KFZ Gutachter", "Unfallgutachten" or "Sachverständiger" . When you get involved in a car accident and you are not the causer but get damage on your car you need me an surveyor or appraiser to calculate the damage that has been done on your car and get it back from the insurance of the accident causer ( in Germany its illegal to drive without an insurance so there is a lot of competition in this business.
