Termites are a reality you have to contend with when you live on the gum tree laden North Shore of Sydney. Termites favourite and most common nesting spots are in the root balls of gum trees and the local councils protect the trees from being cut down. There are three problematic species of termites and white ants in Sydney, the worst being Coptotermes acinaciformis termites closely followed by Schedorhinotermes termites and the least damaging Nasutitermes termites. If you think you have found any of these species of termites in your building, a termite inspection should be conducted expediently, followed by an appropriate termite control treatment. My name is Gerard Dallow and I have being in the pest control industry for thirty-five years focusing mainly on the control of termites. I have found snakes nesting in termite nests, possums, kookaburras and cockatoos . The most unusual place I found a termite nest was on the tenth floor of a ten year old apartment in the back of a fridge.
