Master Thatcher Hampshire, Surrey, Wiltshire, Berkshire and Sussex On a cold winters day in 1989 in Hampshire, while attempting some landscape gardening which I didn’t really enjoy, I looked up to the thatched roof of the owner’s property and realised I wanted to tend the grass up there, not down here! I got home, looked up the nearest thatcher in the good old yellow pages and gained an instant apprenticeship with the Cleeves; a family of five generations of accumulated thatching skills. It was the best start I could wish for!
