Type-2 Diabetes: 537 Million Adults in the World suffering from it

Type-2 diabetes is a common disease. In this, the blood sugar level of the patients becomes high. According to the International Diabetes Foundation, 537 million adults in the world are victims of this disease. According to the World Health Organization, in the year 2019, 1.5 million people died due to type-2 diabetes.

Let us know about those symptoms which start showing even before type-2 diabetes occurs.

1. Frequent Urination

This is the main symptom of diabetes. When your blood sugar level is high, the kidneys try to filter out more sugar from the blood. This can lead to frequent urination. This happens especially at night.

2. Increased thirst

Due to excessive urination, the body needs more water. Hence the thirst of the patients increases. In many cases, this leads to dehydration of people.

3. Increased Appetite

One of the symptoms of type 2 diabetes is excessive hunger. The patients of this disease do not get enough energy from whatever food they eat. Our digestive system converts food into glucose, which serves as fuel for our body. But in diabetic patients, this glucose reaches the cells in a very small amount from the blood.

4. Blurred vision

Too much sugar in the blood can damage the nerves of our eyes. This can cause blurring of one or both eyes. If not treated properly, the patient can go blind forever.

5. Exhaustion

Diabetic patients get tired very quickly. The reason for this is the lack of energy in their body.

6. Failure to heal wounds

Wounds take a long time to heal due to diabetes. Excess sugar in the blood damages the veins, due to which the blood circulation also gets disturbed. It takes weeks to months for even a small wound to heal. This increases the risk of infection.

7. Itching or yeast infection

The yeast gets its food from the excess sugar in the blood, due to which it stays alive. Yeast infection occurs in places like private part, mouth and armpit. You may feel very itchy in this.

8. Numbness

Due to poor blood circulation, feet and hands can become numb again and again. This condition is called neuropathy. It can also lead to serious complications in future.

9. Dark spots on the skin

Dark spots on the skin are a symptom of type 2 diabetes. These can be in the neck, armpit, private part etc. This skin condition is called acanthosis nigricans.
